Frequently asked questions about K-Time
General Information
Q. What is K-Time?
A. K-Time is the portion of care that takes place during regular school hours (9 am-3 pm) opposite your child's kindergarten session. It takes place at your child's elementary school. The structured program includes both large and small group activities. The staff to child ratio is 1 to 12. Activities include circle time, music/movement, and academics. Stations include dramatic play, blocks, language arts, math/science, and art.
Q. Will my child have access to school hot lunch? Where will cold lunches be stored?
A. The food service program will set up a lunch account and you will receive your child's pin #. Students will go to the cafeteria with staff to eat hot lunch. All children eat in the school's cafeteria. When packing a cold lunch, please make sure to include an ice pack. Your child will store their lunch in their backpacks or locker.
Q. Will my child be required to nap?
A. The schedule includes 30 minutes of personal time each day. This is an opportunity for your child to relax and unwind a bit. They may bring a quiet toy or book from home to use at this time. We will also offer quiet activities such as puzzles, books, coloring/drawing, or movies.
